Describe yourself in one word.
When did you start doing CrossFit? January 2014
What was your fitness routine before CrossFit?
Dabbling in lots of different things for not very long, and with little to no results. Some spin classes, “Insanity” DVDs (The.Worst.), even going to a few yoga classes with my girlfriend. The one constant was running, which was mainly just to prevent myself from getting more out of shape.
Favorite WOD? Helen
Least favorite WOD? Any WOD with double-unders.
Favorite Lift? Stones
Lease favorite lift (and why)? Overhead squats, because human beings are not supposed to do that.
How has your view about CrossFit changed since your first WOD at CFL?
I used to think that CrossFit would be too tough and too intimidating for a lapsed athlete who is 10 years past his glory days. I’ve felt welcomed and encouraged here from day 1. It’s this culture of support that keeps me motivated and coming back.
What were your goals when joining CrossFit? And have you achieved any of these goals?
Do unassisted pull-ups. Build strength and speed. Lose body fat. I’ve achieved or made progress on all of them, but there’s still way more I need to do.
What is your favorite CrossFit memory or most memorable crossfit moment?
I did 20 double-unders unbroken during the Open. Not repeated since.
Do you have any CrossFit rituals or superstitions?
Mumbling curses to myself during the 10-second countdown before every WOD.
How has CrossFit affected your life outside of the gym?
I wake up feeling excited about the time of day when I get to work out. That hasn’t happened in a long time.
What advice would you give to a newbie just joining CrossFit Logan?
If a disgraceful human specimen such as myself can enjoy this, so can you.
